Ice dams forcing water under the shingles
Why it happens here
Northern Kentucky winters swing above and below freezing repeatedly. Snow melts on the warm upper roof, runs down to the cold eave and refreezes, forming a dam that pushes water under the shingles and into the attic.
Our approach
We install ice and water shield along the eaves, improve attic ventilation to keep the roof deck cold, and add insulation where it is missing. That combination stops the melt-freeze cycle at the source rather than just patching the leak.
